Manufacturing Day is a growing grassroots movement of manufacturers dedicated to overcoming the shared challenges facing manufacturers today. The most pressing issue is a gap in skilled labor. Manufacturers’ ability to address this issue has been hindered by the public perception that careers in manufacturing are undesirable and by the lack of sufficient preparatory education. Both of these problems stem from a lack of understanding of present-day manufacturing environments, which are highly technical.

Supporting Education Through Internships

Scotchman Industries has always had a close relationship with the Philip, SD community and the local high school (PHS) is no exception. Throughout the years Scotchman has opened their doors to high school students, enrolled in the School to Work (STW) program, who are interested in the manufacturing field.

For a majority of the 17-18 school year, PHS Senior Colton C. joined Scotchman's team of Engineers to learn the ropes and gain real life experience working in the Engineering Department.
