For the 50th anniversary year of the Scotchman ironworker, we wanted our celebration of the past to contribute to American manufacturing's future.
That's why our 50-ton giveaway contest was set up to award one school a brand new ironworker. We asked our incredible customers to submit their Scotchman stories and nominate the school of their choice to be the recipient.
And we officially have a winner!
We are proud to be featured on the South Dakota Public Broadcasting (SDPB) program, Dakota Life, in recognition of our 50 years of excellence in the metal fabrication industry.
There's been a lot to celebrate this year. Scotchman Industries has reached five decades making the best hydraulic ironworkers in the country. Our team is constantly innovating with manufacturing automation to bring the best machines possible to our incredible customers.
Still, the most important milestone from my perspective is seeing Jerry Kroetch, our president, hit 40 years with the company.
I can't imagine having grown up without Scotchman. My grandfather built this company, and my dad has been dedicated to it since before I was born.

Alvin joined Scotchman Industries on Nov 13, 1972. Over the years he has worked in almost all aspects of the company: welding, assembly, paint, final assembly, and parts room.

There were many highlights of FABTECH 16, but one of the proudest moments for our team at Scotchman was receiving the Top Quality award from one of our dealers, Sterling Machinery.
At Scotchman, we are proud to be a “Made in America” factory that employs 80 people with a network of more than 500 distributors nationwide.
In the lobby of our Philip, SD, manufacturing plant, there is a Scotchman model 5014 CM covered in black sharpie. Hundreds of signatures decorate the never-before-used ironworker, each one a cherished name adding to the tribute to our company founder, Art Kroetch.
The 5014 CM in the lobby was the last machine built on the day he died, July 3, 2007.
